Job Description

REQUIREMENTS:

  • University Degree in Engineering.
  • Good understanding of Safety and system engineering processes: EN50126 and ISO15288.
  • Safety analysis and demonstration methods and tools and Electrical and/or Electro-mechanical Engineering.
  • Licensed (or eligible) with Professional Engineers of Ontario (P.Eng.).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of experience working with railway systems and operations, ensuring safety analysis and assessment for achievement of safety targets.
  • Good Knowledge of railway systems and operations, available E&M equipment, and Subsystems.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Structured and organized with a hands-on approach.
  • Knowledge of the rail construction environment and engineering practices.
  • Good analytical skills are required.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform Safety analyses as per the applicable instructions/processes and other specific requirements committed to the Customer.
  • Deliver Safety analyses compliant with project commitments.
  • Address Customer/Independent Safety Assessor (ISA)/Partner comments to get approval on the Safety deliverables within the limits of the Company commitments.
  • Contribute to the assessment of the Safety performance of the product and to the upstream identification of the necessary Safety requirements to ensure the achievement of the Safety targets.
  • Apply the Company/Engineering rules and processes, in particular those dedicated to Safety activities.
  • Report on the progress of tasks and activities and alert the Safety Manager in case of difficulty.
  • Have a proactive challenging view on the Safety data/results to enhance the adequacy/consistency of the Safety studies and requirements.
  • Seek a technical understanding of the Company products to better assess their safety performance and potential areas of improvement.
  • Adopt a product-oriented mindset in performing safety studies to foster the capitalization of the results of the studies towards the product Safety performance.
  • Interface with experts in other departments as necessary to produce the deliverables.
  • Provide data to maintain applicable KPIs.
  • Provide valuable feedback for REX sessions and continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and support the procurement, construction, integration, and validation phase.
  • Identify risks, scope gaps, and grey areas and escalate as needed to ensure the schedule.
