Rapid Prototyping Fabrication Technician

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• You have at least five years of experience working in a fabrication shop.
• You have an ability to layout & fabricate from engineering drawings, and a strong understanding of GD&T.
• You have experience with MIG, TIG and SMAW welding processes.
• You have the ability to operate oxygen/acetylene equipment, and have used a Brake Press.
• You are able to navigate MS office suite of products.

BONUS SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• You have CAD skills.
• You have experience using a Water Jet cutting machine.
• You have an ability to run a lathe and a mill.
• You have a Post-Secondary technical diploma.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

As a Rapid Prototyping Fabrication Technician at Svante, you’ll use your fabrication skills to help turn an idea into something that can be held, fitted to an existing prototype, or a test fixture. In doing so, you’ll help the team to meet our customer’s needs for metal fabrication.

• You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, ensuring clear and timely communication of project status, requirements, and deliverables.
• You’ll work from requirements to clearly define objectives and demonstrate a linkage to the selected equipment or action.
• You’ll promote a safe working environment by identifying and mitigating potential hazards. You will ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and guidelines.
• You’ll utilize project management tools and techniques to communicate objectives, priorities, and project milestones effectively.
• You’ll keep your work space clean, and tidy and operate within the 5S culture.
• You’ll contribute to Svante’s Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement culture by participating in daily improvements & mentoring others in Lean improvements.
