JOB DESCRIPTION

The Credit Risk Manager for Home Equity is a key member of the Residential Real Estate Corporate Credit Risk Management team who is responsible for managing the credit risk for the Home Equity portfolio. The Risk Manager will perform analysis, reporting, and other key activities to support the effective management of credit risks. They will need to collaborate with the Lines of Business and other Second Lines of Defense partners on an ongoing basis.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Typically more than 10 years of applicable experience

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the proven ability to understand, synthesize, and translate complex concepts into straight forward messages.
  • Able to manage multiple competing demands and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded risk management background including a strong understanding of Credit Risk Management and Residential Real Estate. Prior experience on Home Equity/2nd Lien lending preferred.
  • Effective relationship building and negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively work with others as part of a high performing team.
  • Strong process facilitation, project management, and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; Experience with SAS, Tableau, and PowerBI are a plus.
  • Experience with Loan Origination and Servicing systems such as Net Oxygen, MSP, and ALS is a plus.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepare ongoing and ad hoc reporting to identify trends and emerging risks in the Home Equity portfolio.
  • Coordinate with the Business Line and other members of the Second Lines of Defense to assess changes that impact the portfolio’s credit risk, including marketing programs, Line Management programs, updates to the Loan Origination Systems and Servicing Systems, changes to Credit Policy, and other ongoing initiatives.
  • Perform ad-hoc, quarterly, and annual analysis of key credit risk topics such as HELOC qualification rates, interest rates, Loan-to-Value restrictions, exception limits, Through-the-Cycle guidelines, and other areas.
  • Manage the review of the current Line Management programs to ensure that recommended Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) restrictions comply with approved practices.
  • Ensure the data collection, documentation, and reporting processes comply with the Bank’s governance policies such as the Data Governance, Model Risk Management, and other policies.
  • Keep abreast of industry best practices, regulatory guidance, and external risk environment and apply to the oversight of risk management activities.

THIS ROLE OFFERS A HYBRID/FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE, WHICH MEANS THERE’S AN IN-OFFICE EXPECTATION OF 3 OR MORE DAYS PER WEEK AND THE FLEXIBILITY TO WORK OUTSIDE THE OFFICE LOCATION FOR THE OTHER DAYS.
