Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Richmond City Justice Center is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Payroll Clerk. This position reports directly to the Division Manager. The work location is the Richmond City Justice Center.
The Payroll Clerk shall perform the following duties and responsibilities:
- Processes biweekly payroll
- Maintains accurate records and reports
- Pays employees by calculating pay and deductions
- Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data into the payroll system, as well as retrieving data when necessary (RAPIDS)
- Updates payroll records by entering necessary changes
- Troubleshoots payroll problems and recommends procedural change when needed
- Communicates and works in concert with other agencies, such as Information Technology and City Human Resources
- Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential
The preferred candidate will have a High School Diploma required; associate’s degree preferred and minimal two (2) years of experience in the administrative/payroll field or related area. Must have a high level accuracy and be intensely detail-oriented. Must be proficient in the usage of the English language which involves the ability to read, write and speak. Should be able to demonstrate competencies in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook. The preferred candidate will possess strong organizational and analytical skills, being detailed-oriented, data entry ability, deadline-driven, problem solving, flexibility and adaptability, confidentiality, general math skills.
