SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS:

Teaching qualification or professional accreditation (desirable).
An in-depth understanding creative arts subject area, including awareness of recent developments in the field.
A proven academic ability, including knowledge exchange
Knowledge and experience of creative higher education as a working environment.
Bachelor and Master degree in the domain of creative arts.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:

Experience of teaching and managing curriculum development within higher education.
A capacity to attract external resources in support of knowledge exchange activity and research
Strong record of knowledge exchange outcomes (through exhibitions, performances).
Ability to lead the workshops professional development of own area of expertise within BSBI, supporting the development of staff.

Communicates creative ideas or information persuasively adapting the style and message to a diverse audience in an inclusive and accessible way.

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

As part of the core academic team within the Faculty for the Creative Industries, the postholder will be expected to make significant knowledge exchange, research and teaching contributions within their field of expertise, particularly in the area of performance technologies.
They will lead, develop, deliver and support teaching led knowledge exchange activities and outcomes such as placements and student projects, research led knowledge exchange outcomes, and actively support BSBI’s Faculty Team to participate in forums for debate and contribute significantly to BSBI events.
Within knowledge exchange we expect the postholder to undertake research and development and innovation, such as consultancy, developing knowledge
The postholder will develop and undertake their teaching, research and practice within the research and knowledge exchange aims and remit of the UCA/BSBI and contribute to the development of the profile of knowledge exchange in Performance at BSBI Hamburg Campus
The post-holder will instigate, lead and develop knowledge exchange projects within the School and contribute significantly to the academic knowledge exchange profile and activities of BSBI. They will take a leading role in their appointed field of specialism, contributing leading-edge knowledge exchange, teaching and research in creative arts.
Readers are expected to act as consultants of study and/or supervisors to research degree students as appropriate to their workload.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To produce knowledge exchange, research which makes a significant contribution to the field of Creative Arts and is recognised as internationally significant or world leading.
  • Support and develop the activities of the School, working closely with the Dean of Faculty Team
  • To teach within the BSBI Campuses, as per specialism.
  • To contribute to the academic and curriculum development and the courses within the School, ensuring that students benefit from the knowledge exchange activities and opportunities.
  • Contribute to the academic research and knowledge exchange profile of the School, promoting our knowledge exchange profile through attendance and participation at internal and external conferences and events.
  • Support the recruitment, supervision and support of School students relevant to your area of specialism
  • To perform such duties consistent with your role as may from time to time be assigned to you anywhere within the BSBI Campuses
  • To work in accordance with the BSBI’s Policies, promoting equality diversity and inclusion in your work
  • To undertake continuous personal and professional development, and to support it for any staff you manage through effective use of the BSBI’s Planning, Review and Appraisal scheme and staff development opportunities
  • To make full use of all information and communication technologies in adherence to data protection policies to meet the requirements of the role and to promote organizational effectiveness
