We are looking for an internationally leading vector biologist, with an established background and interest in working with vector-borne diseases, to join our team in Liverpool.
Our mission is to is to improve health outcomes in disadvantaged populations globally, through partnership in research and education, so ideally, your work will have a focus on mortality and morbidity in relation to Low-Middle Income Countries (LMICs).
In this role, you will join the Department of Vector Biology, a well established, multi-disciplinary group of experts with a passion for translating science into public health impact.
You will work with and lead academics in developing cutting edge capacity for vector biology research, enabling the development of new knowledge and understanding in disease ecology and control, therefore, we particularly welcome applications from researchers who integrate ecological and evolutionary approaches into their work.
Responsibilities:
- Initiate, develop, deliver, lead and publish research, which is considered internationally excellent in ecological and evolutionary approaches to the study and control of vector-borne disease research
- Enhance the reputation, influence and profile of LSTM in vector biology research as applied to low and middle-income countries
- Develop a research programme, planning and coordinating a broad research activity/sustain an extensive track record of highly rated published research findings and maintain an expert reputation in specialist subject area to an international level
- Influence high level internal and external collaborations and demonstrate a successful record of driving positive change
- Generate grant income/initiate opportunities for external funding, with a proven ability to attract significant high prestige funding
- Liaise at high level with external bodies and participate effectively in complex negotiations, including leading and developing external partnerships and collaborations
- Take responsibility for the general teaching and learning strategy as applicable to own academic field
