Job Summary
This position will be responsible for providing paralegal support for the lawyers in our Saskatoon office to meet client needs and transactional deadlines. Responsibilities will cover all aspects of residential real estate transactions and include the preparation and review of documents for such matters. Our ideal candidate will have drafting and practical experience from working in a busy real estate practice. This candidate will be self-motivated, highly organized, have superior computer, proofreading and time management skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be able to work independently under a lawyer’s supervision, follow instructions with minimum supervision, and be able to thrive in a dynamic, professional team environment.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

Graduate of a recognized Legal Assistant Program/and or Paralegal Program (equivalencies will be considered)
5+ years of experience working with real estate transactions
Advanced computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook and document management software
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must have proofreading, writing, spelling and grammar skills
A client-focused approach and commitment to providing exceptional service to internal and external clients

Responsibilities:

Managing all stages of residential real estate files from start to finish
Managing all incoming and outgoing funds, including calculating and requisitioning funds for closings, mortgage financing and other requirements
Reviewing, preparing and filing transactional documents, including transfers, mortgages, agreements, leases, subdivisions for filing at ISC, trust letters, refinancing, and sale and purchase contracts
Conducting due diligence searches (for example, Land Titles, property tax, zoning, bankruptcy) and summarize results
Organizing closing schedules and managing funds for closings and mortgage financing
Drafting correspondence, preparing statements of account and statement of adjustments, and handling client communications
Producing timely reports for clients and lenders
