Description:
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK
This is a professional and administrative position in which the employee is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing the delivery of programs within the Real Property Section within the Housing & Community Services’ Community Investments Division. This employee works independently within established policies, guidelines, and regulations and under the supervision of the Community Investments Manager. Work is directed and reviewed through the establishment of goals and subsequent evaluation of progress toward goal attainment.
REQUIREMENTS OF WORK
- Considerable knowledge of & ability to read, interpret, enforce and provide information pertaining to federal, regional, state statues, local ordinances, and grant agreements related to provided services
- Ability to analyze program needs and problems, develop alternative courses of action, and formulate recommendations and solutions
- Ability to effectively plan, organize, and direct the work of others
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, representatives of other organizations, and the public
- Ability to use a computer to access, interpret and record information
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to acquire and maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license
- An employee shall not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
- A High School Diploma / GED/ Some College/ Associated Degree with a minimum of 13 years of experience in housing or community services, OR Graduation from a four-year college with a degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Urban Planning, Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, or another relevant field,
- Must have a valid Kansas driver’s license.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
- A master’s in public administration, Public Policy, or other related field of study
- 2 years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in housing or community service program.
- 3 years of experience in managing grants, including application processes, compliance monitoring, and reporting.
