Description:

“Provides assistance to visitors and patients in a kind and courteous manner and accurately directs incoming telephone calls in an effort toward promoting departmental efficiency. The Receptionist answers routine questions, maintains a neat and accurate filing system, and distributes departmental mail. The Receptionist also maintains accurate patient and/or employee records, strives to promote personal performance quality by participating in specialized training programs, and attends meetings. If associated with Radiology, the Receptionist schedules and processes patient x-ray requests, dispatches Transporters, processes files and data, as needed, and contributes to student education and supervision. If associated with the Lake Health Center, the receptionist processes Health Center paperwork, stocks the fitness counter, and assists members in an effort toward providing quality health and fitness services. "

  • Customer Service
  • Provides courteous assistance, guidance, and direction to departmental visitors, ascertains the nature of visitor business, and directs individuals to various locations in the department and hospital when appropriate.
  • Receives incoming telephone calls, exercises judgment in prioritizing calls, and courteously directs calls to appropriate personnel in a prudent and efficient manner.
  • Answers routine questions regarding hospital and departmental operations, policies, and procedures in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Document and Data Management
  • Files various materials and information, performs light typing duties, and maintains visitor logs when needed.
  • Maintains accurate patient and/or employee records following established protocols and documents workload statistics in an effort to ensure prudent and efficient departmental operation.
  • Quality
  • Promotes the quality and efficiency of his/her own performance through participation in staff educational programs, approved continuing education courses, and specialized skill training programs.
