INTRODUCTION:
Peninsula Community Legal Centre (PCLC) is one of 49 community legal centres in Victoria. It operates across six local government area in the south east of Melbourne – Cardinia, Casey, Frankston, Glen Eira, Kingston and Mornington Peninsula. PCLC is headquartered in Frankston and has branch offices in Bentleigh, Cranbourne, Frankston North and Rosebud.
PCLC works to empower and support disadvantaged community members of the South Eastern and Westernport region to use the law and legal system to protect and advance their rights and broaden their awareness of their responsibilities. PCLC offers general legal advice and casework services, specialist family law, tenancy, family violence, rooming house and social work programs, and is active in community legal education and law reform work.

Job Description
The Receptionist will work under the direction of the Director - Business & Operations to undertake administrative duties that ensure the provision of high quality legal and support services on behalf of PCLC and its client base.
The position is three days per week - fixed term contract - maternity Leave replacement
Key Responsibility Areas:Client intake and referral:
- General reception duties including answering telephone enquiries and providing efficient and effective intake services to those seeking assistance. Including information provision, initial legal needs identification and assessment.
- Follow all PCLC’s policies and procedures relating to the provision of information and referral.
- Provide a range of internal and external referrals to assist clients with their related needs.
- Inform people about services available, eligibility criteria, and complimentary services.
- Maintain and monitor electronic appointment diaries and calendars.
- Maintain files and filing systems. Including resource materials for clients and staff.
- Undertake data entry and typing as required.
- Participate in regular supervision and administrative team/ staff meetings.

The position reports directly to the Director, Business & Operations
All work and conduct is to be performed in accordance with PCLC Policy and Procedures, PCLC Strategic Plan, PCLC Work Plan and PCLC Advice and Casework Guidelines.
Professional judgement is exercised in the performance of routine tasks and client services.
Direction is sought prior to engaging in non-routine tasks and client services.
Other Relevant Information
You will be required to travel to PCLC branches, PCLC service locations and Courts. Access to a reliable and comprehensively insured motor vehicle is a requirement.
Ensure compliance with all Privacy Legislation and treat all information of a personal and sensitive nature concerning the business of PCLC and its clients, in a professional and confidential manner in accordance with PCLC’s information and records management procedures.
Ensure that all PCLC policies, procedures, operational systems, and work practices are implemented and adhered to, with a focus on human resource management, risk management and client service.
Act in a professional manner while performing duties for and/or representing PCLC in line with the Staff Code of Conduct.
An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant. Salary packaging is available.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:
Key Selection Criteria
- Highly developed organisational and administrative skills and the ability to work under pressure and manage completing priorities.
- Demonstrated computer literacy, including data entry experience.
- High level of written and oral communication skills with a diverse range of people, community groups, agencies and government departments.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment and under the direction of a supervisor.
- Demonstrated capacity for resourcefulness, self-motivation with an ability to manage competing and complex work priorities.
- Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable client groups and those with complex needs.
- Commitment to the principles of equity, access and social justice.
Other Requirements
- Hold a current Victorian Driver Licence.
- Undertake a National Police Records Check forms part of the pre-employment process.
- Undergo or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Travel to PCLC branches.
- Cooperate with PCLC in relation to any actions taken to comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 and ensure that actions taken by the employee do not interfere with or place at risk the health, safety or wellbeing of the employee or any person in the workplace.
