ABOUT THE CANDIDATE

We are looking for a care navigator to join our busy practice team and help make a positive impact on our local community. We would welcome applications from organised, adaptable, and friendly individuals, who are keen to help us provide high levels of patient service and have the following attributes:

  • Excellent communication skills, with a clear and polite telephone manner.
  • Ability to work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients at all times.
  • Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations.
  • Confidence to work as part of a team and ability to “think on your feet”.
  • Strong IT and administration skills.
  • Previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience is desirable.

Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.

Responsibilities:

Thorpe Doctors Surgery in Thorpe-le-Soken, Clacton-on-Sea, is looking to recruit a new member of staff to join our friendly team, on a part time basis for 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 08.00-18.30.
There is more to our care navigator roles than answering the phone and making appointments. In this essential front-line role at the practice, our care navigators help patients to access the right services, assist with keeping health records accurate and up-to-date, and ensure that appointment bookings are well-managed.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Greeting and directing all patients.
  • Cancelling and making appointments.
  • Accepting, issuing and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc.
  • Dealing with requests for information, and managing problems and complaints.
  • Advising patients of practice procedures.
  • Registering new patients.
  • Answering the telephone, promptly.
