Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

The post-holder will be the first point of contact for visitors to the Institute of Making Stratford, acting as the welcoming ‘face’ of the Institute, helping with member and public enquiries and ensuring that only authorised members are accessing our workshops and Materials Library.
The post-holder will provide key information about activities taking place in the workshops, events and the Materials Library. They will also troubleshoot any issues that our members may have around their membership, booking activities and using their online account.
The post-holder will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the reception area, which will include keeping the area tidy and welcoming. Additionally, the post-holder will provide administrative assistance. This will mainly be related to our members, such as managing the members’ email, but may also include assisting other team members; supporting the Events team with a public event, helping the Office Manager to organise team away days, or assisting the wider organisation through ordering stationery and booking couriers.
During periods when we are closed to members there may be special project work, helping the post-holder to develop a broad understanding of our work at the Institute of Making.
The ideal candidate would have a can-do attitude, with an enthusiasm for the work and ethos of the Institute of Making, as well as a curiosity and interest in materials and processes of making. They would have a welcoming manner and be able to proactively solve queries and issues.
