Description:

Your role at St John of God Geelong Hospital
You will be part of our experienced Patient Services Team in our Sessional Consulting Suites.
As a Receptionist you will be responsible for providing high standard support and assistance to patients, visitors and caregivers and directing queries accordingly.

The Position

  • Participate in handover between shifts and for wards. Ensure appointments in GroupWise calendar are included.
  • Coordinate telephone calls and messages promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain computer records ensuring accuracy and currency of details, including new born babies.
  • Assist patients, visitors and general public with enquiries and directions.
  • Receive pre-admission forms, checking health insurance details and notifying patient of any extra charges they may incur.
  • Admit new admissions for the day.
  • Maintain security of keys and key register.
  • Distribute and coordinate ingoing and ongoing mail and faxes.
  • Photocopying and other duties as required.
  • Informs the Manager, HIS or Hospital Coordinator of any problems encountered whilst of duty.
  • Maintain cordial relations with patients, family, all ancillary staff and other members of the department.

With excellent communication skills, both oral and written, you will have the ability to deliver exceptional customer service. Interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to hospital staff, patients, families and medical staff is essential to the role.
You will have the ability to prioritise a busy varied workload and work unsupervised. With demonstrated receptionist and computer skills you will also hold excellent switchboard operating skills.
To succeed you will have the availability to work extra shifts, including weekends, night shifts and other weekday shifts.
