SUMMARY:
The Wooden mission is to inspire and transform the lives of young people through the power of dance and access to higher education. Our Student Support Services Department is a key part of this mission, providing continuous supervision and tailored support to students at our Main Street and Depot at Santiago locations. We believe in nurturing relationships and fostering a supportive, growth-oriented environment for both students and staff.
As a Receptionist at The Wooden Floor, you will play a vital role in promoting our mission and programs to students and providing essential program administration support. You will work collaboratively within our Student Support Services Department, focusing on creating a welcoming and engaging environment that meets the unique needs of each student and visitor. Your ability to communicate effectively, listen actively, and maintain a positive demeanor will be crucial to your success. Proactivity and dependability are essential in this role to ensure that all students, parents, and visitors receive the attention and support they deserve.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, education, humanities, or related fields preferred.
- Two-year associate degree in social sciences, education, humanities, or related fields in process.
- Some experience working with children in after-school programs, social services, recreation, or arts organizations is a plus.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Fluency in Spanish required.
COMPUTER & EQUIPMENT SKILLS:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to maintain and update electronic and paper student records.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Occasionally bend, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, handle objects, push/pull, and reach above shoulder level.
- Frequently sit, walk, and use fine finger movements.
- Occasionally lift and carry loads up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift loads between 25-50 pounds.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Possession of a valid California Driver’s License and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee front desk operations at both Main Street and Depot at Santiago locations, ensuring a welcoming and secure environment for students, parents, and visitors.
- Manage sign-in procedures, provide immediate assistance and information, and proactively address the needs of all who enter our spaces.
- Assist in the execution of daily operations and events, manage attendance, maintain accurate records, and handle data entry, filing, copying, and tracking office supplies.
- Actively supervise students, ensuring adherence to The Wooden Floor’s values of Respect, Stewardship, Community, and Excellence, as well as the dress code. Foster positive relationships with students by serving as a mentor and role model, exhibiting a proactive and helpful attitude that inspires confidence and trust.
- Facilitate effective communication between students, parents, staff, and external stakeholders. Manage the phone system, including answering and forwarding calls, and taking messages if a staff member is unavailable.
- Exhibit flexibility in performing varied duties as needed, including stepping into other roles to support goals and objectives. Comfortably manage periods of downtime, utilizing them to enhance program readiness, student engagement, and overall environment warmth and accessibility.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be willing to work at both the Main Street and Depot at Santiago locations, and remotely if required.
- Assist with the execution of special events and activities as requested.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure the smooth operation of all programs and services offered by The Wooden Floor.
