We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, imaginative and resilient individual with a wide skill set around Craftsmanship as an effective therapeutic activity; delivering a robust and meaningful programme across a variety of clinical areas. You need to be effective in working autonomously, communicating with a wide range of people and motivated to support the development of the Recovery and Enabling Team. You will be delivering creative interventions using a variety of materials such as wood and have the mastery and know how of using a variety of hand and power tools to support the multiple interventions that can be offered. You will be guided by Occupational Therapy theory and principles; working with people with complex needs whereby interventions are personalised to promote health, wellbeing and occupational therapy outcomes.
REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Essential:
- Evidence of technical and creative skills within one or more of the following:
Craftsmanship, Horticulture, delivering dementia specific interventions.
- Demonstrate behaviour that meets the RCOT professional standards.
- Effective and demonstrated use in IT skills.
- Effective record keeping.
- Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance and demonstrate resilience.
- Ability to prioritise workload and time pressures in accordance with patient and service need.
- Proactive and use of one’s own initiative.
Desirable:
- Previous experience, transferrable skills and/ or evidence of further training in relevant field applying for; specifically managing environments and equipment.
- Experience of working in an inpatient or secure environment.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation in clinical area applying for.
- Confidence in using a variety of communication tools/ applications.
- Willingness to explore flexible working outside of Monday-Friday, 9-5pm.
Responsibilities:
You would be joining a highly motivated, knowledgeable and innovative team with a wide range of craftsmanship skills, and take responsibility for organising and delivering Light and Heavy craftsmanship interventions. Versatility, initiative and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, with the ability to develop good professional therapeutic relationships with individuals in our care and members of the ward teams.
