WE ARE HIRING FOR ALL SHIFTS!
Are you passionate about guiding individuals through their recovery journey from substance use disorders? We’re looking for a Medical Assistant/Recovery Support Specialist to join our team. As a Specialist, you will serve as a personal guide and liaison for individuals in treatment, helping them identify needs, develop and monitor treatment plans, and stay engaged in their recovery.

Ascension Recovery Services is dedicated to assisting individuals on their path to recovery from substance use disorders and related mental health challenges. Our first location in Columbus, Indiana.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:
- Medical Assistant Certification Required
- Experience making blood draws and completing UA’s.
- High school diploma or equivalent and 1+ years of relevant experience may be substituted for degree
- 1+ years of experience in behavioral medicine or other healthcare organization strongly preferred
- Experience and training working in the 12 Step Field and/or Dual Diagnosis treatment strongly preferred.
- Must have or, within 30 days from hire, be able to obtain current First Aid and CPR card.
- Valid drivers license
Responsibilities:
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Provide educational groups to help clients regain skills needed to reenter the community and to improve psychoeducation related to clients’ needs ·
- Oversee clients’ recreational activities, transport clients to A.A. meetings, medical appointments, and other functions as requested by supervisor·
- Maintain detailed notes of all incidents occurring during the shift and complete the appropriate reports promptly·
- Provide oversight to clients during housekeeping, meal service, and various daily activities ·
- Identify verbal and non-verbal cues for potential aggressive behavior and apply de-escalation techniques to the situation·
- Perform basic medical tasks, obtaining and documenting vital signs, weighing clients, and exhibiting a willingness to learn additional tasks.
- Perform related work as assigned, including assisting staff and clients with laundry, dishes, housekeeping, and garbage disposal
- Perform receptionist duties, as needed, and relay telephone messages promptly to various staff members and clients
- Organize and facilitate specific recreation, physical fitness, and appropriate leisure activities
- Perform all client day-to-day duties including assisting clients with ADL’s
- Process clients following intake protocols into residential treatment. Complete all intake forms on admission of all clients, including orientation form, as requested
- Provide a complete and comprehensive orientation for new clients to program rules, handbook, expectations, treatment plan and areas needed for assistance within the first 48 hours of admission
