QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduate of College Level Recreation program or equivalent degree or college diploma in therapeutic recreation or equivalent
• R/TRO , R/DIP or CTRS designation is an asset
• Minimum 3 years’ experience working with children, youth and their families with physical and developmental disabilities, and experience planning and facilitating group recreation programs.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• You have a deep commitment to family-centred care and a passion for working with others to support children to achieve their personal best.

The Recreation Assistant facilitates high standard of maintenance, cleanliness and attractiveness of the Grandview Children’s Centre by:

• Assisting in planning, implementation and facilitation of group programs for clients
• Assisting with implementation of treatment goals as set by a Recreation Therapist
• Modifying activities to meet needs and abilities of participants
• Providing a safe and age appropriate fun atmosphere that fosters the development of leisure
• Assisting clients with positioning on equipment and assisting parents and therapists in transfers;
• Observing client activity and recording/reporting as required
• Supporting clients in use materials or supplies, under direction of the Recreation Therapist
• Distributing materials or supplies to clients, as directed by the Recreation Therapist;
