We’re looking for enthusiastic team players to be part of the buzz at the Burnaby Art Gallery! As a Recreation Clerk 2, you will be front-facing and doing clerical and office support service, including reception, registration and bookings in a cultural facility. You’ll use your superior people skills to supervise and assist in the work of one or more subordinates engaged in clerical and cashiering tasks; verify and record cash receipts; answer questions with patience and professionalism by phone or over the counter; handles inquiries and complaints. This position requires being independent and empathetic while maintaining effective working relationship with a variety of community groups; develop, revise and apply new work methods and procedures; prepare and maintain various records and files; and performs related work as required.
To qualify, you’ll need to have completed Grade 12 including or supplemented by commercial, and word processing courses; sound related office and cash handling experience including some supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You’ll need considerable knowledge of departmental policies, practices, rules, and regulations (e.g. safety) related to the work performed. This position requires self-motivation and superior communication skills. Have sound knowledge of business English, spelling, arithmetic and punctuation with the ability of supervise, review and train support services in the facility and deal effective with the public. You’ll also need sound knowledge of the needs of various community groups and individuals as they relate to cultural facilities. Additionally, the successful applicant will have the ability to supervise, review and train office support; organize and monitor office support services in a cultural facility; be skilled in computer applications and typing accurately.
Hourly wage: $29.48 + 12% in lieu of benefits.
Schedule: This is an auxiliary position; hours and shifts can vary between the hours of 9:30am-5:00pm Monday to Sunday.
