SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School or Post-Secondary Education.
  • Experience working with children, particularly in childcare, afterschool, or youth programs.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • A collaborative team player who shares leadership responsibilities with colleagues.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Employment is contingent on a clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, clearance from the Department of Social Development, and proof of COVID-19 immunization.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Medavie grant initiative by managing the yearlong membership program for youth in the Crescent Valley Community, working with local partners to ensure accessibility and inclusivity.
  • Facilitate and oversee birthday parties on weekends at the Regional Y, ensuring they run smoothly and creating positive experiences for families.
  • Provide support to childminding services, engaging children aged 3 months to 5 years and forming meaningful relationships with children and their families.
  • Plan, organize, and lead inclusive recreation and sports programming for youth and families, catering to participants of various skills and abilities.
  • Supervise youth programs, including drop-in and scheduled sports, while promoting leadership opportunities and volunteer engagement.
  • Ensure program spaces are safe, organized, and welcoming, maintaining equipment and enforcing facility guidelines to prevent accidents or incidents.
  • Manage administrative tasks, such as scheduling staff and volunteers, inputting program details into the system, and reporting participation and member usage.
  • Coach and mentor staff and volunteers to support their performance and the quality of programs.
  • Participate in workshops, training, and team meetings, contributing to the success of the YMCA’s Health, Membership, and Recreation (HMR) department.
  • Act as part of the HMR support team, providing consistent operational assistance across YMCA member centers.
  • Work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and be part of the HMR support team to ensure continuous support for YMCA member centers.
