Description:

The Barrie KOA is currently looking to hire in our Recreation department. Seeking individuals who have a passion to provide exceptional customer service, patience, a strong work ethic, and are seeking an opportunity that provides individual growth. A passion for working with children of all ages, and the ability to organize and implement recreation for the whole family. We will have opportunities for Recreation Team members who are able to work a variety of shifts, on a rotating schedule throughout the summer season.
Position Summary: The Recreation Team Member has the ability to provide exceptional customer service to all guests, allowing them to enjoy a memorable camping experience. This role includes, but is not limited to, providing exciting recreational activities for all ages at the campground. As part of the Recreation Team you will be required to implement a structured recreation at the campground. This includes creating a fun, safe, enjoyable activity program and theme weekends to give campers the opportunities to learn, play, be entertained and to interact with each other, focusing on building relationships and memories while they spend time at the campground. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have experience or expressed interest in this field.
  • Previous work experience dealing in customer service with children and adults of all ages.
  • Possess strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Be flexible with their schedule. Working primarily weekends, as business levels require.
  • Speak the English language fluently. French is an asset.
  • Great guest service skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Competent in cash handling.
  • Applicants must be able to complete mandatory training in April, prior to season start.
  • Must be able to work weekends May - October.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work in all weather conditions both indoor and outdoor.
  • Be able to be on their feet for a full shift, 4 - 8 hours or more.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Long periods of standing, bending, and kneeling

Responsibilities:

  • Provide superior customer service, by being enthusiastic, attentive, friendly and helpful. Handle all guest issues with respect.
  • To contribute to the organization and operations by following all KOA guidelines and procedures.
  • Greet all guests with a positive attitude and well-groomed appearance, a smile, recognition and a proper KOA uniform and name tag.
  • Work well in a team environment as well as independently. Accepting instruction from Team Leader and Managers on duty.
  • Assist in planning and implementing daily programming and special events for all ages.
  • Ensure a positive, fun, clean and safe environment for all campers while attending the activities, at amenities or recreation facilities.
  • Provide great communication with staff, management, parents and other participants.
  • Report all guest problems, requests or complaints to the owners, campground manager or shift supervisor and follow-up to resolve the issue if possible.
  • Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of a clean store, laundry room, recreation hall and washroom facilities.
  • Record attendance and success of recreational activities/programs to the manager weekly in order to look at new ways to enhance the recreation program, the guest experience, the team member experience and ancillary revenues.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Campground Manager.
  • Comply with all federal and provincial safety programs by adhering to established guidelines as set out by Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations as they relate to the workplace ensuring your safety, as well as that of fellow staff and campground guests.
