Enhancing community care options for Albertans continue to be a key priority for AHS. To support this goal, the North Zone Addictions and Mental Health department has an exciting opportunity for a Recreational Therapist (RT), AMH, Child & Youth. This portfolio works with a common purpose: to promote understanding and compassion, to encourage healthy behaviour and attitudes, and to help all Albertans achieve well-being throughout their lives. This role provides the opportunity to be creative in the development of current and new programming and services to support the mental health needs of the community. The Child and Youth, Community AMH program provides specialized assessment and treatment services to children, youth and their families. The addictions and mental health, child and youth team work collaboratively as a multidisciplinary team providing care of children experiencing serious emotional, psychological, behavioural and/or psychiatric illness. The RT I may be responsible for the assessment, consultation and treatment programs for clients. While the main focus of this position is clinical, there is an opportunity to provide leadership, and coaching to staff and students as resources permit. You will promote best practices to the team and participate in program planning, development and implementation. This position may participate in clinical area committees and communicate with the RT Professional Practice Leader. Located within Grande Prairie which resides on Treaty 8 territory.
Description:
As a Recreation Therapist I, you will be working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive services for patients (clients, residents) within your assigned program or service area. You will ensure the level of therapeutic recreation practice is evidence based, patient-and family-centred, and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients¿ treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.
