ABOUT THE VACANCY:
Hi there!
I’m Jenny, the Recruitment Business Partner for Newport City Homes. I am on the lookout for someone to cover my maternity leave but in a slightly different capacity. We are in an exciting part of our journey where we are working towards a merger with Melin Homes, due to this we are looking at the role in a slightly different way due to the varying work over the next few months.
-
We are looking for someone who has a strong advisor background in either Recruitment or HR who is capable of running the ‘business as usual’ aspect of the role. This will include supporting managers with the recruitment process, updating Excel spreadsheets, keeping track of the recruitment budget, building relationships with recruitment agencies to ensure value for money, supporting candidates with any queries they may have and advertising our roles on various job boards and platforms. (The list does go on slightly, but I only have so much space here!).
-
You will be confident with providing advice and support to managers across the association and part of the role will involve working closely with our People Admin team to ensure a smooth onboarding process for all new starters as well as provide an overall positive candidate experience.
-
Alongside the recruitment element of the role, you’ll have the opportunity to support my colleagues Rob & Sarah in their People Business Partner roles. This can include note taking during meetings, supporting with case management and various other general HR tasks.
-
A CIPD Level 3 would be desirable, but if you don’t currently have this, as long as you have a passion for the subject and want to expand your knowledge then this could also be a fantastic opportunity for you, as we are able to support you in this journey. We have so many exciting projects underway, not just merger related, that you can get involved in and grow or strengthen your knowledge and experience in, which is why this is such a unique opportunity.
-
I have the pleasure of working in a fantastic team and with Stacey as your line manager it would be a great opportunity for someone looking to broaden their skill set and explore the different areas of the Recruitment & HR world.
-
This is an initial 9-month Fixed Term Contract (FTC) due to my maternity leave, but the role is slightly different to my usual one so there is fantastic opportunity to put your stamp on it!
-
In conclusion, this will be a very varied role and no two days will be the same, as you’d expect in the world of HR. You will get to meet and work with colleagues across the association and be able to gain invaluable experience relating to mergers and other exciting projects as well as an insight into the world of Housing. We don’t expect colleagues to be in the office every day from nine until five, because we want you to work in a way that gets the best out of you, there is however a requirement to attend one of our offices at least once a week, to keep the connectivity within the team, and more frequently if the business needs require it (free milk, tea and a fancy coffee machine + vending machines available!).
-
If hearing about the job, the fantastic team and the learning opportunities available isn’t enough reason to apply, we also offer Agile working which allows you to manage your diary (within reason!). Personally, this has been super helpful with accommodating my busy lifestyle. We have enhanced annual leave, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), reward and recognition schemes, health and wellbeing initiatives, as well as a Social Events Committee! Recent events have included discounted tickets to see Wicked + Hamilton, Dragons vs Cardiff Blues, Brecon Mountain Railway - Meet Santa, Bath Christmas markets and many more!
-
I am happy to have a confidential chat if you want to find out more about the role and what would be involved. Feel free to drop me a message on LinkedIn or email me at jenny.rawle@newportcityhomes to arrange a call or if you have any questions.
