Hackney Council is looking for a Recycling Assistant to join our Recycling Team and support the development and delivery of key recycling and waste prevention initiatives. The role plays an important part in our mission to reduce the environmental impact of waste in Hackney and support the success of our Climate Action Plan, therefore we are looking for an individual who is passionate about sustainability and driven to deliver measurable improvements to services.
The Recycling Assistant will support our Recycling Officers and wider team to implement the Council’s Reduction and Recycling Plan. This person will be a key point of contact for resident queries and will be required to investigate and resolve enquiries, using their initiative to identify solutions. They will also attend events to engage with our local residents and help monitor services and conduct property assessments, spending the majority of their time out in the borough. The post will support the delivery of various projects and campaigns, and sometimes lead on smaller ones, to promote recycling and waste reduction.
Your experience, knowledge and commitment to waste and recycling are what we are looking for to join our busy team. We are seeking candidates who are passionate about the environment and hold a strong desire to work within the waste and recycling sector. Your administration experience and communication skills coupled with your dedication to customer service will enable you to offer the best solutions to our residents. The successful candidate will be required to carry out on site work monitoring the recycling services, involving independent working, and be able and willing to work flexible hours, which may require some early mornings, weekends and evenings.
We know that staff are key to our success and we are seeking people with ambition, creativity and commitment to our values to help us achieve the best for the people of Hackney.
There is no better place to work in London than Hackney; we have great pride in our borough, our communities, and our services. Hackney is one of London’s most vibrant and diverse boroughs. It’s one of the most sought after areas to live in London with good schools, parks and local amenities, as well as great transport links and vibrant and diverse communities.
