Weyerhaeuser’s (Engineered Lumber Products) Timberstrand® manufacturing Plant, located on beautiful Lake of the Woods in Kenora, Ontario, is currently seeking a permanent full-time Red Seal Certified Welder. Our plant manufactures the high strength engineered wood product Timberstrand® in a 24/7 operations, non-union, manufacturing environment. We offer a competitive total compensation and flexible benefits package. With a competitive starting wage at $48.12. For the right candidate we offer a relocation allowance and a hiring bonus of $3000.00.

Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor this position will be responsible for:

  • Welding: Perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding on various materials including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
  • Fitting: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the exact dimensions and configuration of parts and structures.
  • Fabrication: Cut, shape, and assemble metal components using hand tools, power tools, and machinery.
  • Quality Control: Inspect completed welds and fabrications for quality and accuracy, ensuring they meet the required standards.
  • Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools. Execute Other maintenance tasks as assigned with other lead trades(MWT)
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to meet project deadlines and production goals.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Welder/Fitter/Fabricator.
  • Certification: Valid Red Seal welding certification (CWB certification is preferred). High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques. Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and quality in all work performed.
  • Safety Conscious: Knowledge of and commitment to workplace safety standards.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy materials, stand for extended periods, and work in various positions (e.g., crouching, bending).
