We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic Red Seal Millwright to support our maintenance operations at our packaging facility in Kelowna, BC.
The Maintenance Department provides mechanical and electrical services to the entire Kelowna facility (Andrew Peller/Calona Wines/Sandhill Winery/Canrim Packaging). The Millwright is an integral role to our Operations, and supports with operation, repairs, and maintenance of facility equipment including pumps, conveyors, presses, line changes, and trouble shooting of all packaging lines.
This position is based out of the Calona Wines/Sandhill Winery building in downtown Kelowna, BC. This is a unionized position.
We are operated as Andrew Peller Ltd however have a long history of producing wine in Kelowna under Andres, Calona Wines, and Canrim Packaging. Our western portfolio of wineries include Sandhill, Gray Monk Estate, Red Rooster Winery, Tinhorn Creek Vineyards, and Black Hills Estate.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Applicants must possess an interprovincial Red Seal Millwright Certification;
  • Previous related experience in a beverage packaging environment (GMP environments) preferred;
  • Possession of dual ticket qualifications is an asset;
  • Valid scissor lift/boom lift and forklift certificates is an asset;
  • Ability to adhere to HACCP requirements and the GMP policy;
  • Must be self-motivated, organized and able to minimize line down time and maximize line efficiencies;
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and preference for a team-oriented approach are desirable attributes;
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and bend, stoop, reach, lift, and stand for longer periods time;
  • Preferred candidates will have experience in the operation, repair, and maintenance of a manufacturing plant including, pumps, and process control equipment (PLC)
  • HRAI environment awareness for CFC/HCFC/HFC control; and
  • Ability to work predominantly dayshift but some weekend work and off shift work is required in this role. During fall harvest time, shift work, standby coverage and call in support may be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Operation, repairs, and maintenance of facility equipment such as, pumps, conveyors, presses, line changes, trouble shooting, maintenance and lubrication of all packaging lines;
  • manage line efficiency ensuring production targets are met or exceeded;
  • record daily information and perform quality checks;
  • responsible for sanitation and maintenance of all lines;
  • promote a safe team environment;
  • proactively support Packaging/Maintenance team in responding to time-sensitive line issues;
  • Actively utilize continuous improvement tools including 5S, Kaizen, and Root Cause Analysis to drive proactive maintenance;
  • Operation, repairs, and maintenance of plant utility equipment including air compressors, hot/cold water systems, and glycol systems;
  • Support and Maintenance of Cellars and Packaging equipment as required;
  • Participate in the planning and construction of plant projects and preventative maintenance initiatives with other members of the maintenance department;
  • Actively participate in equipment tracking work order systems;
  • Participate in continuous improvement project planning and actively support/carry out action items;
  • Work with facility operators to optimize equipment performance and safety;
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment through participation and support of the Health & Safety Program, joint H&S committee (if applicable) and compliance with EH&S regulations;
  • Monitor and request parts for your area(s) of operation;
  • Interface with contractors and corporate engineers;
  • Record retention such as plant rounds, logbooks, forms and procedures; and any other duties as assigned by the Manager or Maintenance Supervisor.
