Job Title: Refrigeration Technician
Description: As a refrigeration technician you will be tasked with the day to day service and maintenance of refrigeration/ HVAC systems as well as some food service equipment for Woods Supermarkets and their associated properties. On Call duty is expected.
Reports To: Director of Maintenance

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A certificate of completion for an accredited Refrigeration/HVAC course of study or an Associate’s Degree in Refrigeration Technology.
• Candidates who have not completed the above mentioned course of study, but have a minimum 5 years of field service in the refrigeration trades will also be considered.
• A valid EPA Certificate is required.
• Applicant should have a minimum of three years’ experience in commercial refrigeration with a heavy emphasis on Supermarket Systems.
• Applicant should also have a basic knowledge of construction and construction methods and light steel fabrication.
• Applicant should also be able to use all tools associated with the trade in a safe and proficient manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To greet all customers, respond to customer questions/requests and explain store policies in a courteous manner.
• Installs, inspects, maintains and repairs refrigeration equipment.
• Installs and troubleshoots specialized refrigeration equipment and machinery.
• Tests lines, components and connections using electrical, mechanical and pneumatic test equipment.
• Does soldering and brazing.
• Charges and leak checks refrigeration systems.
• Performs pre-start up checks on equipment and adjusts as necessary.
• Lays out and installs reference points for determining equipment location.
• Reads complex blueprints, sketches and schematics.
• Complete all assigned tasks in a clean, safe and professional manner.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• May assist other Departments with special projects.
• May do other trades work incidental to Supermarket operation.

Task of the Job -This job generally includes:

• Mobility:
• To move cases from truck/pallet to backroom/to sales floor for stocking, approximately 75 yards.
• To move cardboard/packing material to the backroom, approximately 75 yards.
• To move excess cases/damaged product from the sales floor to overhead storage or backroom storage, approximately 75 yards.
• To backroom of store for supplies/product/maintenance equipment and return, approximately 75 yards.
• Work on tile, concrete, or rooftops.
• Move a maximum of 100 lbs. from 6 inches to 48 inches.
• Carry a maximum of 100 lbs. up to 15 feet.
• Use maintenance and product transportation equipment.
• Manipulate maintenance equipment handles/grasps/knobs.
• Move stocking carts, pallet jacks (up to 1000 lbs.) and maintenance equipment approximately 75 yards.
• Respond to customer questions and responses.
• Respond to intercom.
• Respond to co-workers questions.
• Communicate with customers (respond to customers, greeting, and thank you).
• Communicate with co-workers.
• Read equipment and chemical warning labels.
