JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Regional EHS Manager to join our growing team.
EHS Regional Manager Scandinavia
EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE
- Minimum 5 years EHS experience working in a manufacturing environment or similar industry in an EHS Management role
- A proven track record of successful delivery of HSE processes, policies and initiatives resulting in improved standards and behavioral change, with the ability to adopt a strategic approach.
- Experienced in the management of multi- sites preferable.
- Experienced in managing and leading a team.
- Experienced in working at a senior business level.
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
- Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative.
- Excellent time management.
- Proficient IT skills, presenting skills, report writing, statistical analysis and development of training packages.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS
- Educated to Degree level.
- Professional qualification in Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Management - NEBOSH Diploma or country specific equivalent
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Must be fluent in both written and spoken English.
- A second language, Danish, Swedish or Finnish, is preferred.

Responsibilities:
ROLE SUMMARY AND PURPOSE
As our Regional EHS Manager you will be a key member of the Regional Leadership and European EHS Leadership teams.
Reporting to the EHS Director for Europe with a matrix relationship to Regional Operational Directors, you will be required to drive and lead the implementation of European and Corporate strategic EHS performance plans and objectives across the region. Provide advice, guidance and support to Regional Leadership and the site teams, to ensure compliance with company management standards and legislative requirements. You be a key player in our commitment to the area and to champion a strong EHS culture, which includes ensuring that safety performance indicators are regularly reviewed and addressed accordingly, ensuring that all EHS policies, procedures and statutory documentation is up to date, adhered to and available to all employees.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsibility for the EHS Management of sites under the defined region.
- Ensure effective distribution of EHS resource across the region to meet site needs and business demands.
- Developing a high performing functional team of EHS managers, developing competence and capability within the EHS function and the wider business
- Manage and develop a team of EHS Professionals in the region to improve skills and competencies.
- Plan, implement, and coordinate programmes to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses and environmental impact in line with European strategy.
- Assist and support personnel in safety and environmental hazard assessment and implementation of effective control measures
- Ensuring that all staff are competent, adequately trained and supported to enable them to carry out their duties safely.
- Making authoritative recommendations to regional management concerning programs, systems and resources required
- Provide advice and guidance to the management team on legal compliance, best practice, strategy implementation and industry standards
- Assist and support management of environmental permits for associated areas
- Ensure compliance with company management systems
- Key contact for liaison and interaction with enforcing authorities
- Key contact for customers in area of responsibility in relation to EHS
- Compile and evaluate incident statistics to identify trends to target risk reduction and monitor effectiveness of EHS strategy
- Develop and deliver in house training programmes
- Compile EHS performance reports for area of responsibility for Operations Director/ Managing Director, Operational teams and European EHS Director
- Liaison with enforcing authorities in areas of responsibility
- Attend and facilitate EHS meetings at a regional level
- Drive positive EHS culture
- To develop and maintain manageable and effective auditing programmes to ensure compliance with environmental and H&S systems and procedures.
- Oversee projects and initiatives in areas of responsibility to ensure EHS compliance.
Key contacts for this role include:
- Internal - European EHS team, Regional Operations Directors, Plant Managers and site senior leadership, Site EHS Manager, Global EHS Support, North America EHS team. Local and regional support functions in Continuous Improvement, Sustainability, Human Resources, Procurement, IT.
- External – Local authorities for EHS compliance and or interventions. EHS consultants, project development teams, safety system designers
