As a Regional Environmental Manager working in the Civil & Infrastructure team at Pomerleau Construction, you will ensure environmental management and deployment of environmental management system on various construction projects in British Columbia. Working on large-scale civil & infrastructure projects – ranging from $1.5 million to upwards of $1 billion – you will have the opportunity to travel in Vancouver to collaborate with the various project management teams, the client and government authorities. You will supervise a team of environmental specialists assigned to various projects.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Produce the environmental content for qualifications and proposals.
  • Support project teams in managing environmental issues and incidents.
  • Mobilize resources to implement and monitor conditions and requirements associated with permits, authorizations, acts, regulations and contract documents.
  • Offer consulting support to projects on various environmental issues (accidental spills, waste reclamation, fauna, flora, protection of wetlands, water quality, dust control, erosion mitigation measures, noise mitigation, contaminated soils, residual hazardous materials, work in bodies of water, etc.).
  • Implement EMS processes, plans and forms and ensure each project inputs performance indicators, according to corporate requirements.
  • Draft and implement specific management plans (water, air, noise, vibration, soil, wildlife, fueling, emergency response, etc.).
  • Implement an internal auditing and site monitoring program.
  • Visit the various projects to ensure activities are compliant and provide advisory support.
  • Participate in management meetings and raise awareness on environmental issues and requirements.

THIS ROLE COULD BE FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE

  • A university degree in environment, engineering, biology, geology, agronomy, sustainable development or a similar field.
  • At least eight (8) years of experience in the environmental field.
  • Previous experience in managing and supervising staff.
  • Previous experience in construction or industrial operations.
  • Strong understanding of the environmental challenges and impacts in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of British-Columbia and federal environmental regulations and permits/authorizations process.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
