General Summary:
The Vertex International Financial Team is integral to delivering Vertex’s mission of creating transformative medicines for people with serious and life-threatening diseases. You will be working as part of a dynamic and diverse organisation alongside outstanding people who are forward thinking, collaborative and recognised leaders in their areas. The individual will report to the Senior Finance Director at Vertex’s International Headquarters in Paddington. The individual will use their business acumen and enterprise leadership mindset to play an active part on the cross functional country leadership team with a focus on providing Finance partnering support including forecasting, performance management, accounting, and internal controls.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the monthly sales and production forecasting process by partnering with Commercial, Medical, and Supply Chain teams to understand and forecast patient and sales dynamics, and report relevant KPIs to leadership
- Work with UKI cross-functional business leads to ensure well informed investment decisions for the annual budget and monthly forecasting processes in line with company priorities
- Support International finance on long-range planning cycle to understand and forecast UKI dynamics
- Part of core deal team working to unlock reimbursement in the region; lead on all financial analysis in support of these third-party contract negotiations
- Provide timely and accurate financial reporting vs. budget and forecast for country, regional, and financial leadership
- Collaborate with line managers and the Accounting to ensure proper expense and ensure compliance with internal controls
- Active participation in UK&I Country Leadership Team to drive company culture and cross-functional collaboration
- Drive continuous improvement and participate in international and global projects to represent local needs
Knowledge and Skills:
- Solid experience of working within a finance team, particularly revenue forecasting and opex management
- Strong stakeholder management skills, able to quickly establish credibility and build effective, collaborative, working relationships at all levels.
- Ability to work under pressure whilst still maintaining attention to detail and effective controls
- Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
- Excellent strategic and implementation skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business administration, or equivalent business experience
- Professional finance and/or accounting qualification
- Significant experience working for a major company or division of a large corporation, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in pharmaceutical industry
- Experience working in a multinational organization
- Strong experience in Business Partnering, mainly in Commercial Operations and Finance, different departments such as Internal Controls and Compliance, Strategic planning (Accounting, Budget, Investment analysis, Forecasts, report to local and foreign board of Directors), Market analysis, Treasury (Cash Management, Foreign trade operations, Credit Management, risk management).
