Description:

At SMS Equipment, the Regional Inventory Planner is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day inventory control procedures and oversees mining, forestry and construction parts inventory. The Regional Inventory Planner will work closely with all Parts Managers, the Corporate Parts team, and other stakeholders to develop inventory planning and purchasing policies and reports. This position is in Acheson, AB.
This role offers a hybrid work arrangement.
The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $82,000.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will have a Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain or Business Management or a relevant field paired with a minimum of 5 years related parts, warehouse or inventory experience. Other requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or a Journeyperson Parts Technician certification is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of parts distribution and inventory management.
  • Extensive experience with reporting and spreadsheets.
  • Short-term and long-range planning abilities.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to coordinate quality assurance programs in the area of specialty.
  • Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
  • Excellent computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel and proficient in software related to parts and inventory.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor key performance indicators to ensure that trends are managed related to total parts inventory value, inventory turns, non-turning inventory, and obsolescence.
  • Develop annual objectives for the inventory control function to include proper and acceptable inventory levels, acceptable turnover rates, and acceptable fill rates.
  • Evaluate the parts inventory control systems and make decisions regarding inventory planning and replenishment and back order management.
  • Analyze and recommend medium to long-term plans for inventories to support Customer fleets.
  • Work with the Senior Manager, Parts Business Technologies & Strategic Projects to develop policies and procedures for supporting branches.
  • Participate in group meetings to address internal / customer concerns.
  • Perform and analyze weekly stock orders and review min/max levels, back-order escalation, and forward planning for maintenance.
  • Responsible for inventory counts and reconciliation.
