We are recruiting a Regional Learning Disability Nurse to provide high quality evidence-based specialist nursing support, for people with learning disabilities within the region. Supporting services with the oversight and development of support plans, implementing best practice and PBS.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Support (including initiating developments) learning disabilities services within the region through service visits, review of support plans and clinical cabinets.
  • In collaboration with the PBS team support services in training and implementation of individual PBS plans and interventions.
  • Initiate, lead or participate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of needs led innovations within the region e.g., training packages, policy development.
  • Ensure services are delivering person centre care as evidence by measurable clinical outcomes.
  • Promote positive health care and maintenance of good health, through the education of clients and their families/carers.
  • Participate in the setting, auditing and maintenance of standards, intended to improve resident care and service provision.
  • Provide clinical expertise to individuals with more complex health needs.
  • Provide clinical input and advice on health promotion/education and the prevention and minimisation of disability that promotes continuity of care and enables the achievement of resident focused goals.
  • Comply and work within agreed protocols and practices, policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to developing and reviewing current policies and procedures in conjunction with other colleagues.
  • Contribute to the development of clinically effective practice.
  • Support internal mock inspections of services.
  • Support the Group Head of Nursing and Regional Lead Nurses to implement the Group Nursing and Care Strategy.
  • Always work within the professional guidelines of the NMC code of Professional Conduct and Scope of Professional Practice.
  • Regular contact with demanding and difficult situations, with a wide range of both internal and external stakeholders, requiring highly developed and well-practiced communication and inter personal skills. Ability to be flexible in communication style depending on the audience and subject.
