UNMATCHED CUSTOMER SERVICE
- Actively participate in the IPS UCE tier meeting process – UCE1 and above
- Provide mechanical engineering and technical support to region
- Ensure that IPS solutions meet customer specifications, expectations, and applicable industry standards.
- Assist with implementation of quality improvement actions
- Ensure compliance with operating policies and procedures
- Utilize Continuous Improvement Process Solution (CIPS) tools and Processes to deliver continued quality and productivity to our customers
- Enforce strict safety protocols and compliance with regulatory requirements in all engineering and shop activities

- Team with regional electrical engineer to provide mechanical technical support to customers, repair shops, and field service activities
- Interface with customers, troubleshoot equipment problems, perform testing and measurements, generate reports
- Provide technical support to the sales team, participate in customer visits, provide customer and sales training
- Ensure that repairs meet customer specifications, expectations, and applicable industry standards
- Provide guidance for technical capabilities and mitigating risk
- Apply engineering science and technology to innovate for the industry. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design, production and repair of electrical rotating apparatus
- Reverse engineer motor and generator designs at minimum back to OEM standards
- Investigate equipment failures and perform RCA (Root Cause Analysis) leveraging stress analysis tools and processes
- Drive development of mechanical work motor repair instructions
- Drafting, laying out, and specifying technical devices, parts, and equipment, providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to communicate how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used
- Manage and support shop with capital improvements and integration of new capital manufacturing assets
- Support regional shops with complex mechanical issues when needed
- Educate and train customers, vendors and IPS technicians on motor/generator operating theory and repair processes
- Actively participate in Ultimate Customer Experience tiered meeting process
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
- B.S. or M.S. Mechanical Engineering Degree preferred – open to other based on combination of degree and direct technical experience
- Preferred qualification: 10+ years’ experience with electrical motor design, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting
- Passion for critical thinking and problem solving
- Strong hands-on experience in fabrication, machining, manufacturing, machine repair or similar
- Experience performing RCFA to determine failure mode and FMEA’s
- Experience with the design, manufacturing, application, repair, testing, maintenance, and diagnostics, of electric motors and generators
- Ability to perform advanced diagnostic assessments to troubleshoot motor, generator and control issues with applicable test equipment
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to communicate technical data in a clear and concise manner
- Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite and CAD including finite element analysis
