Serves the role of medical director for assigned business units, provides strategic subject matter expertise to the leadership teams of client operating companies: Builds strong relationships with major operating company customers/clients. Provides occupational health strategic solutions to client business units that consider unique business and cultural issues to provide innovative processes and programs. Consults with operating companies and external partners to identify opportunities to optimize health solutions that best serve our workforce and our communities. Counsels management and advises employees on business related health issues: educates business units on company medical services, counsels on emerging health issues and on health effects of alleged occupational exposures, promotes medical fitness for duty programs that meet client expectations and leverages key learning from existing company programs, provides vendor management of authorized providers to ensure quality and value-effective services consistent with business needs, and develops joint processes and collaborates with other Health and Medical groups to implement value-effective programs. Assures that legal, safety and practice standard requirements are included during program design and sustained in program implementation. Incorporates the use of technology and web-based resources/products to identify and implement efficiencies and otherwise develop our organizational capability.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Provides both direct and indirect occupational health services: Performs medical review of health data for company policy and regulatory examinations, including audiometric testing, respirator medical clearances, benzene surveillance results and international assignment exams. Notifies employees of significant medical exam findings and provides medical recommendations to the business unit. Evaluates medical fitness for work issues, including prescription drug reviews and employee return to work cases. When requested, provides case-specific clinical consultation for Employee Assistance Program cases, Short-Term Disability cases and Workers Compensation claims. Provides litigation support and expert witness services in company medical matters. Provides support for local Chevron clinic operations as required.
Leverages expertise with Chevron shareholders: Delivers health knowledge to HSE/HR and medical staff working on the design and development of local, regional and global health projects. Establishes and develops linkages with other Chevron stakeholders who share a related health domain (e.g. OE champions, HSE Managers and HSE leadership team, Corp HR. Benefits, and HR Regional Shared Services partners). Proactively shares best practice models and products of excellence across the enterprise. Maximizes relationship potential and helps others benefit from these. Identifies issues and trends that are beyond own scope and proactively involves other experts/stakeholders to work towards resolution. Leads health and medical services on high profile enterprise wide projects.
Maintains all legal and professional requirements for medical practice, including licensure for controlled substances and DEA requirements. Maintains current knowledge in employee health, including medical case management, Workers Compensation, quality of care, etc. Trade association and benchmarking representation as appropriate.
Special projects and other duties as assigned by the Lead Occupational Health Advisor and/or Regional Medical Manager as required.
Customer Centricity
Given the remote nature from the regional office to the covered workforce, collaboration and support with CVX approved medical network and overall medical community is critical. Customer service aspect of this position to focus on efficiency, productivity, and safety of the workforce.
This position requires final decision making on a myriad of OH related evaluations and completing necessary documentation to expedite assignments, return to work decision, manage emergencies, and refer for additional/necessary testing.

Required Qualifications:

  • Nursing degree
  • Nurse Practitioner certificate
  • OH certification or 3-5 years recent and relevant OH experience
