How you make a difference:
The Regional Psychologist provides clinical mental health services to offenders and clients at correctional and detention facilities. They offer clinical supervision and direction to mental health professionals, if personnel are assigned to assist them. Utilizing their professional training and experience, they ensure the delivery of mental health services aligns with established standards and expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a range of clinical services, including diagnosis, treatment, psychological testing, and crisis management, ensuring adherence to the policies and procedures of the company and the standards of the APA, NCCHC, and ACA.
- Ensure clinical documentation is completed professionally and timely, maintain data for departmental needs, participate in case staffing, care management meetings, and quality improvement activities.
- Assist in staff selection, recruitment, and provide clinical supervision and direction to mental health professionals, help develop and refine facility policies and procedures in consultation with clinical and administrative supervisors.
- Immediately notify the Mental Health Coordinator/Director of serious incidents such as suicide attempts or the use of therapeutic restraints, assist in reviewing and correcting crisis intervention services, and arrange/participate in 24-hour crisis intervention services.
- Provide professional education and staff development for mental health professionals and facility staff, supervise other staff or interns as needed, and ensure compliance with facility employee standards, including maintaining a professional working environment and appearance.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
- Doctorate in psychology and experience with mental health delivery systems
Experience
- Significant professional experience in the mental field that indicates knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders and psychological evaluation techniques, including psychological assessment instruments
Licenses/Certifications
- Licensed to practice psychology in the State of employment by the appropriate state licensing agency
