Job Scope:
As a Regional Category Manager reporting to the Head of Procurement & Strategy Development in the Mining Service Procurement Organization, you will lead strategic improvement initiatives to realize cost savings through regional/local purchasing volume steering, cost structure analysis, and the application of commercial, technical, and procedural levers. This role focuses on developing price agreements, reducing lead times, and enhancing supplier sustainability.
The Procurement Strategy & Development team is a key part of Service Procurement. We ensure that our aftermarket customers receive timely, budget-conscious, and high-quality service. We drive the company’s growth and profitability, managing a significant portion of our COGS. Our global team is responsible for strategic category management and building commercial funds, fully dedicated to the FLSmidth Service business while upholding the company’s values and sustainability goals.

Your responsibilities:

  • Connect category spending and procurement people across the region to bundle spend and ensure regional alignment and compliance with global directives
  • Identify and drive savings initiatives in collaboration with the regional Procurement Organization
  • Analyze the regional demand and supply development to guarantee supply for key strategic parts according to customer requirements
  • Identify gaps/disruptions in the supply chain and manage solutions with the Procurement Organization in terms of lead times, price agreements, etc.
  • Own the relationship with key vendors and develop them into strategic partners to enable advanced initiatives, i.e. frame agreements and value engineering, etc., in alignment with global strategies
  • Represent the region in strategic sourcing initiatives
  • Engage in sharing knowledge across Business Lines

What you bring:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent knowledge.
  • Strong commercial and financial understanding.
  • Significant experience in a purchasing role.
  • Project management experience.
  • Ability to compile reports and performance calculations to support procurement, sales, and projects.
  • Experience in performing assigned analyses of market conditions and trends as a basis for decision-making and contributing to the overall cost efficiency of the procurement organization
  • Ability to give inputs to the development of own area and share best practices to contribute to the development of global strategies
  • Ability to lead projects around the specialized area within global procurement to support the deployment of global procurement strategy
