Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Registered Biomedical Scientist to work in our friendly, well-equipped Cellular Pathology department, which processes approximately 35,000 samples per year, providing essential services to the Trust and the wider healthcare community.
You will have excellent communication, scientific and time management skills and your work will ensure that the department continues to deliver a high quality, timely and effective service, where patient safety and experience are central.
The role will require the post-holder to be flexible and highly organised, able to align their values with those of the organisation and to work as part of an enthusiastic team with a ‘can-do’ positive attitude.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in all core aspects of routine Cellular Pathology including microtomy, embedding, special staining techniques, Immunohistochemistry and specimen transfers. Previous laboratory experience will be advantageous including knowledge of quality management, health & safety and quality improvement .
The Cellular Pathology Department is in an exciting period of service development and has begun implementing a Digital Pathology solution, which the post holders will have the opportunity to be involved with.
The central Histology laboratory service is situated on the Royal Hampshire Hospital site in Winchester with a small satellite team based at the Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital.
The post holders will work routinely as part of the team based at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital with a commitment to the Basingstoke site as part of a BMS rotational team to lead the team and perform frozen section and OSNA techniques, once training where required is in place.
We support IBMS Specialist Portfolios and extending practical skill sets for registered scientists looking to move to more specialist roles after practical competencies for the role have been met.
Hampshire Hospitals Cellular Pathology is accredited by UKAS to ISO15189:2012 and complies with HTA standards.
Happy to Talk Flexible Working - all requests for flexible and part time working will be considered.
