Job Overview:
Plans, directs, implements and evaluates programs designed to ensure appropriate education to the community about proper nutrition and weight management related to diseases. Develop, promote and instructs comprehensive cooking to prevent disease and promote wellness. Perform all clinical functions of a registered dietician. Work to ensure that special projects or tasks assigned by Director are completed in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics
- Minimum of 3 years experience in nutrition and nutritional counseling with an emphasis in weight management and nutrition
- Successful completion of site personnel general orientation
Preferred:
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish or English/Haitian Creole
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- CPR certification
- Registration with the American Dietetic Association
Scheduling Requirements:
- Position requires day, evening, and weekend shifts
- Varying schedule requires flexibility

Essential Functions:
- Conducts BMI BodyFat analysis on community members
- Primary resource for the staff regarding updated nutritional information
- Networks with local agencies for potential opportunities for partnerships
- Champions opportunities for self-directed continuing educational opportunities
- Manages and runs the Farm to Family nutrition and education outreach programs
- Plans, implements and coordinates daytime, evening, and weekend programs monthly
- Actively participates in a variety of small and large Community Health Special Events throughout the year
- Champions opportunities for self-directed continuing educational opportunities
- Consistently attends Monday Morning Conferences and Staff Meetings and contributes as a team member
- Responsible to ensure that there are fewer than five cancelations of programs per year due to low attendance
- Works with PR/Marketing, when appropriate, and creatively self-promotes programs to assist in increasing attendance
- Works collaboratively with other health educators and health care providers to incorporate updated nutritional information in programs
- Provides monthly 1 on 1 sessions with different members of our local community who are seeking dietary guidance related to their health needs
- Performs on-going evaluations of the programs, the instructors and participants to ensure the program is meeting the needs of the community with successful program satisfaction scores that consistently reach the departmental benchmark of 95 percent
- Actively takes ownership in the development, implementation and presentation of programs and becomes known as the expert in the community regarding nutritional topics
