Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre (SOAHAC) is a diverse, multiservice Indigenous health and wellness agency who proudly operates Nshwaasnangong Child Care and Family Centre.
Nshwaasnangong is a place for Indigenous young children and families to honour, rekindle, and express their identities as Indigenous Peoples; where kindness and compassion helps everyone to have a sense of belonging; where we nurture our well-being, while living in sync with community and all creation; where we engage deeply with questions and possibilities.
Our centre offers licensed child care and a nurturing environment for up to 88 children, ages 0-6, to learn, develop, and connect with their Indigenous culture. Our Child Care Centre is adjoined with our Family Centre that provides a place for young children, families and youth to participate in ceremonies, land-based learning, knowledge exchange and connect with community supports.
Are you a knowledgeable and driven individual who is passionate about making a tangible difference? We are looking for a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) who is kind and forward-thinking individuals who provide a culturally rich child care curriculum. This position reports directly to the Centre Manager and collaborates with a team of RECEs and Educational Assistants.

Responsibilities:

· Culturally Relevant Curriculum: Collaborate with the child care team to create and maintain a culturally relevant curriculum within their classroom (Infant, Toddler, Preschool). Collaborate to review curriculum, share ideas, assess curriculum, and support a positive atmosphere of teamwork.
· Centre Functions: Maintain a healthy, safe and inclusive environment. Collaborate with the team to create a flexible daily schedule for their classroom, ensuring a dynamic and well-balanced day for the children in the room (Infant, Toddler, Preschool). Keep up-to-date on relevant Early Childhood Education and maintain a registration in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
· Community Engagement: Initiate respectful and culturally safe relationships with families, community partners, helpers, Elders and Language keepers.
