A BIT ABOUT THE ROLE

If you’re passionate about making a real difference in a children’s lives this is the role for you. You will be taking over and leading a dynamic team of Residential Support Workers, ensuring we continue to maintain and build on the already established positive ethos and vibrant culture within this home. Your leadership will inspire and continue to motivate your team to uphold the highest aspirations for our young people.
You’ll hold legal responsibility for the management and leadership of the home, maintaining the values and principles in line with national standards and Action for Children policy, procedure and expectations.
Your responsibilities encompass cultivating and upholding a positive culture within the service, working alongside your team who deliver high-quality person-centred care that positively impacts the lives of the young people. Join us in providing exceptional support to young individuals and collaborating closely with their families, health, education, and social care partner to ensure our children continue to flourish.
About the service
Sycamore is a residential short breaks centre for children and young people between the ages of 5 and 18 years, with severe, profound, or multiple learning and or physical disabilities who may have complex health care needs. Sycamore offers our young people, fun and enriching experiences that every child deserves, this short break service is a vital lifeline for the wellbeing of entire families.

Some key responsibilities of your role as a Registered Manager will be.

  • Being responsible for the children’s home, the children and young people with complex emotional needs including the recruitment and induction of a new staff team.
  • Providing high quality supportive 1:1 and reflective supervisions to direct reports.
  • Promoting and delivering the highest standards of safeguarding practice utilising existing processes and best practice to create a safe positive work and service environment.
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships and maintain channels of communication with colleagues, community organisations, partner agencies and other external agencies

Whilst a management qualification Level 5 would be great, we are open to those with experience in a management role within a residential/social care setting. We have a development programme to support your professional development.

  • Experience in Management of a large team working towards an outcome.
  • Creating an inclusive service, in terms of meeting the needs of the children and establishing a workforce that further enables an inclusive environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of OFSTED requirements.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with children/young people with complex needs, who exhibit challenging and behavioural difficulties.
  • Experience of leading by example with the application of safeguarding practices and policies
