Responsibilities:
- To provide general anaesthetic, local anaesthetic, and monitored sedation recovery to patients (adults and paediatric), and discharge to Second Stage Recovery day ward, or one of the main wards.
- To preceptor and mentor students where appropriate.
- The PACU RN will work closely within a large multi-disciplinary team, forming working relationships with: operating theatre RNs and support staff, anaesthesiologists, anaesthetic technicians, surgical registrars and consultants, and many other allied health representatives.
- Supporting change implementation is an important aspect of this role and the PACU RN will be expected to participate in auditing and other quality initiatives as part of post-anaesthesia and/or anaesthesia.
