Responsibilities:
- Administers total patient care for a group of patients, evaluating patient outcomes in a manner consistent with independent nursing functions.
- Collaborates and implements care plans with members of the interdisciplinary team, including assessment, treatment, coaching and education.
- Safely performs acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills, and judgement in assessing health needs and in planning, administering, and evaluating patient care.
- Adapts and adheres to the values of QH while promoting and advocating for an enhanced patient experience.
- Maintains nursing records in accordance with College of Nurses Standards.
- Practices in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policy and procedures, professional regulatory standards, and best practices within the nursing profession.
- Accountable to maintain professional competence by completing annual education and seeking out education to enhance/improve practice.
- Reports pertinent information to other members of the health care team.
- Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, and communication skills to assume the role of an “in charge” nurse.
- Practices within the scope of professional, legal, and ethical standards.
- Participates in unit/dept. and hospital quality improvement initiatives.
- Adheres to a safe and healthy workplace and maintains a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs, use of established mechanisms for injuries and hazards and adheres to health and safety related policy and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
