Why this role matters
The Salvation Army is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug services. We offer a range of services including Harm Reduction and Primary Health Services as well as a range of treatment types (including residential treatment centres, community-based support programs, counselling, and withdrawal management services).
Located in Surry Hills, William Booth House offers both withdrawal management support (detox) and residential rehabilitation and community-based programs.
About the role
We are currently seeking values-driven and experienced registered nurse to provide specialised withdrawal management (detox) nursing services, clinical assessments, mental and physical health care, referral for addiction medical assistance for clients.
This is a casual position based in Surry Hills,NSW. Reporting to the Nursing Team Leader. Salary and conditions are in accordance with Aged Care Enterprise Agreement NSW-ACT-QLD Registered Nurse.

You will successfully

  • Provide nursing assessment, support and treatment.
  • Support and liaise with visiting medical officers and other stakeholder relationships.
  • Dispense safely and administer medications.
  • Admit and discharge, maintain case notes and other required documentation and handover at change of shifts.
  • Commit to an environment that values continuous improvement and innovation in the delivery of high-quality services.
  • Identify, assess, and manage participant risks.
  • Deliver education and support groups in line with service requirements.

You will have

  • Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence (desirable).
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Nursing.
  • 2 years’ experience and demonstrated competence in nursing in the alcohol and other drugs nursing environment, including working with people with mental health conditions (preferred).
  • The ability to deal with unpredictable situations and behaviours utilising de-escalation techniques.
  • A high level of administration skills and computer literacy.
