Description:
QUALIFICATIONS
Current Certificate of Registration ~ College of Nurses of Ontario required
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate (within 1 year) required
Certified in Medication Administration required with recent related experience (within the last two
(2) years) required
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate required (training delivered by Health Centre
upon hire)
Current I.V. Therapy certification an asset
Capillary Blood Glucose certification required
1-2 years Emergency experience required
Minimum 2 years’ experience working on a Medical or Surgical Unit required
Must be able to function both independently and as an active member of the multi-disciplinary
team in caring for medical/surgical patients required
Ability to effectively provide health teaching to individuals and groups required
Must be involved in continuing education on an annual basis and demonstrate commitment to
quality improvement required
Ability to meet physical demands required to provide nursing care to medical/surgical patients
required
Good attendance and work record required
Computer application experience required
Experience in Mental Health Nursing preferred
Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients,
volunteers, and visitors
Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this
organization
Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are
encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or
there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate
the proficiency level.
Criminal Reference Check including the Vulnerable Sector Check recent within six (6) months is a
requirement
