Designation: Obstetrics and Gynecology Registrar
Department (Section): Medical
Reporting to: Medical Director
Through: Head of Department

QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

Education: MBBS and Master Degree
Experience: Minimum of 1 year after master’s degree
Licensure: Valid Kuwait License
Language: Well versed in English and Arabic
Computer Proficiency: Good computer skills

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB

Registrar will provide clinical service as required relating to the patient care division and maintain contact with the Head of Department. Strictly adheres to privileges in alignment with license to practice in the country.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  • Ensures implementation of the Ministry of Health regulations, the Organization Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and the Department Policy and Guidelines.
  • Regular ward rounds on surgical patients and assist treating physicians during ward Rounds.
  • Surgical Registrar must be in contact (written or verbal) to visiting surgeons and arrange if needed the admission and preparation of their patients for operation.
  • Assists in surgical procedures performed in OR by both in-house and visiting surgeons.
  • Attends casualty cases and should be able to give emergency treatment, be able to do necessary admission procedures and to refer difficult cases to consultants in the clinic. All admission must be done with the consultant’s approval.
  • Completes discharge files and statistics.
  • Writes medical reports in consultation with the treating consultant.
  • Shares the on call schedule in the department of surgery as required.
  • Ensures continuity of care for patients while on call.
  • Maintains the highest professional standard of documentation in line with policies and procedures and internationally accepted standards.
  • Keeps current with new procedures and techniques in the field of his/her Specialty.
  • Required to be involved in the departmental Performance Improvement activities.
  • Participates in providing education and support for all junior staff in the department and supports continuing medical education, providing teaching materials as part of the professional development of the staff.
  • Participates in committee membership, if assigned.
  • Responsible to report any occurrence not consistent with the operation of the Clinic or standard of service for patients, employees or visitors and situations which put patients, staff and visitors at risk of injury or other harm.
  • Participates in organizational performance improvement activities.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality.
  • Answer calls from the wards regarding conditions related to care given to the patient.
  • Accepts other additional assignments found necessary by the Head of Department.
