EXPERIENCE

  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or similar work based experience.
  • Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer ideally with a focus on media-related projects.
  • Very good working knowledge of standard software development frameworks, techniques and methodologies.
  • Experience with providing coaching and mentoring
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team, contributing to the development of business scenarios.
  • Knowledge of software development tools and technologies.
  • You are flexible and curious in your approach
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of load testing with SQL knowledge

Responsibilities:

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Regular Developer Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development and support of our automation backlog. This role will involve active participation in improving our software development methodologies, including pairing, code and documentation reviews, and continuous delivery practices. The ideal candidate will maintain and enhance our automation suites, primarily using TypeScript and JavaScript, and work closely with the team to optimize our testing processes and improve procedural efficiencies.
In this role, you will be supporting the backend system that powers the client streaming service experience across various platforms including TV, mobile, and web. IBL is a robust service that provides metadata APIs, delivering essential data and information to all iPlayer clients. Your work will ensure that our backend services perform efficiently, supplying the data required to provide users with the seamless and immersive iPlayer
experience they expect.
The IBL system consists of over 50 different services that ingest, store, and transform data for iPlayer clients. As part of the team, you will play a key role in maintaining these services, ensuring their reliability and scalability. Your contributions will directly impact the quality and performance of iPlayer, as you work to maintain automation, enhance our testing infrastructure, and support continuous improvement across our
development processes. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a widely-used platform, working with a talented and collaborative team.

ESSENTIAL KEY SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

You will:

  • have over 5 years’ experience of hands on with AWS
  • have CloudWatch, CodePipeline and Lambda experience
  • ability to write automation code strong TypeScript and JavaScript
  • experience of using Postman or similar API tools
  • be able to write high quality documentation
  • have experience working in an Agile team and an active contributor in meetings

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of load testing with SQL knowledge
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with both technical and non-technical

colleagues

  • Great testing skills and experience of testing cloud hosted web applications and

associated backend services

  • Experience of working with and sharing ideas with other testers
