Description:

Newgen PharmaChoice is the BC Renal and BC Transplant pharmacy in Abbotsford. The store is located in a medical building that has many different physicians including family medicine, internal medicine, ENT, psychiatry, general surgery, oral pathology, and optometry. This is a dynamic work environment with opportunities to collaborate inter-professionally in a growing area of Abbotsford. We are looking for an enthusiastic person with great interpersonal skills who can work in a fast-paced environment.
This is a full time position of up to 40 hours per week.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completed provincial Pharmacy Technician certification or completed a Pharmacy Technician course AND the Pharmacy Examination Board of Canada Qualifying exam
  • Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in good standing in BC

Responsibilities:

  • Assists pharmacist in the filling and dispensing process of the prescription
  • Assists patients at counters, retrieves prescriptions, processes register transactions
  • Answers phone calls to assist patients with prescription refills or medication inquiries
  • Coordinates deliveries, assists accounts receivables with pending charges
  • Maintains medication inventory, supplies and OTC merchandise
  • Completes verification for prescriptions and blisterpacks to the extent permitted by provincial regulations
  • Alerts pharmacist of drug interactions between prescription and OTC medications
  • Prepares third-party insurance claims
  • We have recently installed SynMed automation to assist us with blisterpacking. The successful candidate will also be involved with maintaining and managing the operations of the machine.
  • Is able to practice within the Scope of Practice of Registered Technician with the College of Pharmacist of BC.
    Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
    Pay: $34.00-$40.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
