Description:
Upstream O& G company in Houston, TX is seeking a Regulatory Supervisor will lead a team focused on state royalty and severance tax reporting. This role is key in driving team performance, fostering staff development, and ensuring adherence to company policies.
REVENUE ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
CPA required
At least 7 years of experience in regulatory reporting or oil and gas revenue accounting.
Knowledge of plant processing and familiarity with TX, WY, or NM royalty/severance reporting regulations is a plus.
Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Proficiency in MS Excel; experience with SQL scripting is a plus.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather, interpret, and present data clearly.
Ability to meet strict deadlines and work effectively with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with state regulations across TX, OK, ND, WY, NM, OH
Supervise filing of state royalty and production tax returns
Coordinate with the Revenue Team on royalty and severance tax reporting.
Establish team objectives and deadlines in alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
Plan and manage workflow, ensuring that all team members clearly understand their roles and responsibilities.
Track employee performance, provide constructive feedback, and conduct coaching sessions to boost productivity.
Support the implementation of state legislative updates and enhancements to reporting systems.
Create and present reports on team performance and processes to new hires and senior management.
Assist with state audits and participate in special projects and consultant-driven requests.
Review and resolve audit assessments and prior period adjustments promptly to prevent penalties.
