POSITION SUMMARY

J. J. Keller’s Managed Services team is looking to fill a newly created Regulatory Business Advisor position. Our client’s partner with J. J. Keller Managed Services to relieve their organization of time-consuming compliance management and recordkeeping. As a Regulatory Business Advisor, this position will function as the organizational ambassador within Managed Services in the area of driver compliance. This person will apply their expertise to support Managed Services vision and strategic direction by infusing compliance best practices into the methods, processes, and practices within the business unit. In addition, this person will assist with developing the regulatory expertise of other associates.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of experience in a DOT transportation regulatory advisory role.
  • Experience working directly with external clients/customers a plus.
  • Experience networking with state, federal and other industry agencies a plus.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • In lieu of degree, will consider additional years of closely related experience.

OTHER SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be proficient in the use of a PC and MS Office Suite.
  • Professional communication skills - verbal, written, and presentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with associates and client representatives at all levels.
  • Thorough knowledge of DOT and FMCSA driver-related regulations, specifically with Drug & Alcohol and Driver Qualification.
  • Ability to research, analyze and interpret information from a variety of sources.
  • Ability to plan projects and meet deadlines, working both independently and in a team environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time. Regular travel to customer sites and/or industry and training events is required.
Amount of Travel Required: approximately 20% - 50%

Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical expertise and advisory services to existing and prospective clients. This may include DOT audit support, review of carrier’s records and programs, state and federal research, and other high level advisory or service delivery tasks or projects needed.
  • Assists with new client implementations as needed
  • Develops and maintains relationships with state, federal and other industry agencies (DOT, FMCSA, PHMSA, FTA, FAA).
  • Maintains and conveys expertise in motor carrier regulatory requirements. Activities include but are not limited to:
  • Conducts independent research required to stay current with DOT, FMCSA, PHMSA, FTA, FAA and driver-related regulations.
  • Communicates regulatory information/changes to the staff and clients as appropriate.
  • Build relationships with government regulators through managing client compliance, attending related meetings, and participating in industry regulatory discussions.
  • Attends and presents at industry relevant events (CVSA, DATIA, AAMVA, PBSA, etc.) as appropriate and represents the organization on relevant boards.
  • Writes and presents client and industry facing content for conferences, educational forums, and webinars.
  • Maintains critical point of contact list within the industry so we can effectively troubleshoot state /agency issues.
  • Assists business leaders with ensuring that our internal processes are delivering high-level compliance to our clients. Reviews training documentation to ensure that processes align with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Assists business leaders in forming new/improved processes when regulations change.
  • Partners with sales to conduct training for associates, gives client advice and positions our services as solutions.
