Responsibilities:

ABOUT THIS ROLE:

The Regulatory Advisor will report to the General Counsel and play a key role in advising Cuckoo and General Counsel on telecoms and ISP regulatory matters. You’ll ensure Cuckoo is compliant with UK Telecoms law and regulations, including Ofcom General Conditions of Entitlement, and the Telecoms Security Act. You’ll also be responsible for advising key internal stakeholders on how we embed Telecoms regulations into Cuckoo’s operations and business and creating and implementing policies and processes that enable the business to meet all regulatory obligations and requirements. In this role you’ll take the lead on any internal investigations and provide and collate requests for information. The role will also support the Director of Government Affairs in various activities, including industry consultations, participation in industry forums, and building relationships with external organisations to influence decision-making and promote standardisation. The ability to partner with business colleagues and influence through collaboration will be key in delivering in this role.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Staying up to date with telecommunications regulations and policies. Monitor regulatory developments and assessing how they could impact the business. Be the regulatory subject matter expert to ensure the company’s operations meet the National telecom regulations.
  • Policy Analysis: Working with the Director of Government Affairs to analyse frameworks and policies within the telecoms industry. Break down complex regulatory language and communicate actionable suggestions to senior management.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with the Director of Government Affairs to establish and maintain effective relationships with regulatory authorities, government agencies and industry associations. Represent Cuckoo’s interests in regulatory discussions and consultations in line with the Group regulatory strategy.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop strategies to navigate regulatory challenges and identify opportunities. Advise how potential regulatory changes could impact the business operations and propose proactive actions.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and submit regulatory compliance reports to General Counsel and relevant authorities and maintain accurate records of regulatory communications and compliance activities.
  • Training and Awareness: Deliver internal training sessions to ensure employees understand and adhere to regulatory requirements. Raise awareness of regulatory issues and changes throughout the business.
  • Industry Research: Monitor industry trends and technological advancements to anticipate future regulatory needs whilst providing insights on emerging issues and their potential impact on the business. Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements. Identify gaps or areas of improvement and propose appropriate actions to address them.
  • Industry consultations: Support the Director of Government Affairs with developing responses to industry consultations by conducting thorough research, analysis, and drafting comprehensive and well-reasoned responses.
