What does a Regulatory Policy and Strategy Analyst do for us?
A Regulatory Policy and Strategy Analyst provides support for Idaho Power Company’s (IPC) various regulatory activities including long-term planning, distribution system planning, clean energy offerings, energy markets and resource adequacy, wildfire mitigation, among other regulatory analysis. They work with frequent to moderate direction within a team environment to prepare and present analyses, develop regulatory positions (backed by research and analysis) and conduct studies that support the goals and objectives of the Regulatory Affairs department.
The role will report to the Regulatory Policy and Strategy Leader and will support large regulatory efforts related to the Company’s long-term resource planning, distribution system planning, avoided cost pricing and PURPA policy, and wildfire issues, among other strategic and policy-oriented regulatory activities.
Additionally, the position’s duties will include performing research, preparing models, and presenting findings or recommendations in written and verbal form. The successful candidates will be expected to support other projects that arise, as well as the broader Regulatory Affairs Department, as assigned. The ideal candidate could have prior experience working in the energy industry as an economist, regulatory analyst, policy analyst, financial analyst, or pricing analyst.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Entry Regulatory Analyst
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Policy Analysis, Political Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in related field
Experience:
- N/A
Preferred:
- 2 or more years of experience performing cost, financial or economic analyses
Regulatory Analyst
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Policy Analysis, Political Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in related field
Experience:
- 2 or more years of experience performing energy, policy, economic, cost, or financial analyses
- A directly related advanced degree may be substituted for 1 year of experience
Senior Regulatory Analyst
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Policy Analysis, Political Science, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in related field
Experience:
- 5 or more years of professional level work experience performing and presenting detailed energy, policy, economic, financial, cost, or related analyses
- A directly related advanced degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience
Preferred:
- Experience testifying before regulatory agencies

This position is a sedentary job requiring working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time.
